What is the PTA

The Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) is a charity reliant on funding and made up of Trustees and Members to run it.

The PTA aims to communicate with families more effectively, enhance fundraising efforts and apply for grants/awards to support the school.

Anyone with a child in Jerry Clay Academy is automatically a member of the PTA, you do not need an invite! We welcome parents and family members to volunteer at our events and attend any PTA meetings.

We would love to involve all PTA members in any aspect; it is all voluntary and flexible. For example, if you would like to attend a meeting now and again and nothing else that's ok.  We have members who make up hampers, packing sweets and organising items for our events and others like to help out at events. Check out our events calendar and see if there are any that fit around your schedule, we would be happy to have you onboard.

The aim of the PTA

The PTA is at the heart of the school supporting the ethos of the school; ‘strive to be the best’ in everything we do, so that we can significantly impact the learning. We want to ensure that we are constantly meeting the needs of all of the pupils so that they feel motivated, secure and happy. We aim to do this through connecting with staff and parents to provide fun opportunities, engaging with others in community, supporting other charities, and local businesses. We are inclusive, we are a family and not just a team!

What will I get out of being on the PTA?

  • Meet parents from other year groups

  • Meet the teachers in a less formal setting

  • Widen your outlook and see the school from a different angle

  • Make new friends by working alongside members of your community

  • Learn new skills and increase your self-confidence

  • The satisfaction of knowing you've made a contribution

  • The knowledge that you've helped make the school you chose an even better place
